Labor Day Weekend ~ Benson, Arizona

Scott is looking into getting a race car again, so we headed to the track for him to test drive/ride along.

And this is post race, loving on her ge-ge Connor ;)

After the race, we headed to Walmart where the boys each got a skate board and Sophie picked out a My Little Pony stuffed animal, whom she named Anna! Lucky kids, I tell ya!

Sophie and I had the same shirt on this day, in support of our friends bringing home their daughter from Xiamen, also!

After dinner, she asked the hotel staff to light the fire pit. Since we don't have one, this is always fun to sit around the fire and chat. I asked them their favorites parts of the trip so far...they each said their new gift, and the boys said having a key card in their pockets LOL!

As we were sitting by the fire, Connor ( of course ) came up with the great idea to go get ice cream! Again, wanting to check out the local scene, we went to Old Benson Ice Cream Stop~ they had about 50 flavors of soft serve!

And this is the end of our short trip! Short and sweet ;) The kids loved being in the hotel, but the car ride home was another story ;( Hoping they become better road trip kids! Until next time....

Labor Day Weekend ~ Tombstone, Arizona

This weekend we headed south! I thought we were going to Tucson, but as it turns out, we went a bit further south. Scott was going down to test drive a race car, and we tagged along for a little get away.

Sophie posing in Tombstone

Our first stop was in Tombstone, a western town. We bought tickets to the OK Corral Gun Shoot Out re-enactment.

They used really loud cap guns, and Hayden thought they were too loud and real! Connor knew better...he understood this was not real ;)

This was on our way out of Tombstone...

Once we left Tombstone, we headed out to find lunch. We decided to try out a local diner restaurant, the Horseshoe Cafe.

We packed in a lot from leaving in the morning till lunchtime! Now, we were on our way to watch Scot test out a BMW on a road course...

Day Trip to Sedona ~ West Fork Trail, Part 2

Since there were so many pictures from this one hike, I thought it would be a good idea to split the post. I just fell in love with this trail, the creek, the excitement of the kids, the rock formations, being surrounded by nature, the exploring...

Next we found this cool place in the shade. It was this little alcove shaped by trees above and rocks on the side of the creek. The rocks were kind of cold and smooth... a great resting spot for Mimi and I as the kids explored. They found minnows and awesome rocks. They were in heaven!

Hayden was the first one to fall in and get really drenched ;)

After our little break on the cool rocks, we headed thru the creek some more. We found an old log laying across the water. Sophie recognized this right away as a balance beam! She told the boys to do "airplane arms! "

It was at this point in the trail that we decided to head back. We had been hiking for quite awhile now, and had to walk back through the creek. With their curiosity, this could take us awhile ;)

Just as we were to get out of the creek onto the dirt trail, the boys wanted to climb the concave wall. Mimi and I gave it a shot, too!

This was such a fun day trip! We started out just after breakfast and got home in time to pick up a pizza for dinner! This day trip was so worth it...such an awesome place to hike! Until next time...
