Beach Bums ~ Pacific Beach, California ~ San Diego Zoo

Every year that we come to San Diego, we visit the zoo. This is a really nice zoo, and the weather is great year round, so most of the animals are always out ( unlike the Phoenix Zoo, where it is blazing hot and all the animals want to be in their caves, where it is nice and cool! ).

The one exhibit we really like is the Panda exhibit. When we were in China, we went to see the pandas in Fuzhou. I read that all the pandas in the world are owned by China. For a zoo to "borrow" a panda, the cost is ONE MILLION DOLLARS PER PANDA PER YEAR that is owed to China. Oh.My.Goodness!

At the entrance to the panda exhibit, there was a large wall map of China. We stood there talking about all the cities that the kids knew about and the places we have visited. Here is Connor checking out the map!

Both Connor and Sophie got panda souvenirs, which they still love!

This was Sophie's first time to a zoo here in the States. She loved seeing all the animals, but said the elephants were her favorite!

Of course we stopped by the polar bear exhibit, although they were not out swimming much. I think it was almost lunch time and they were in their cages while the helpers got their lunch. Anyhow, the kids posed as always buy the seal and took a helicopter ride!

Towards the end of our zoo day, we were all hot and tired. Hayden was done and just wanted to be carried. It was a great day at the zoo~ we all loved it! Thank you Grandpa for treating us for the day!
