We Are SKI Bound ~ Vail, Colorado ~ Getting Used To The Snow!

March 2015, Spring Break

This was our first official spring break week, as Connor was just in Kindergarten. Luckily, I was off and we were able to fly to Vail to have a fun skiing vacation! We met the Mach's there, and stayed in Kami's mom's time share. Both families were in one large condo, and it was so much fun!

Our first day, we flew into Denver, rented our minivan and headed into the mountains. It was about a 2 hour drive, at most, with stopping for lunch. Once we got to the condo, all the kids were excited to see each other ;) We spent some time outside running, playing on the swing set, checking out the lake and taking in the views of the mountains.

Kami's sister, Kari, has a condo just across the parking lot from where we were staying. Although she was not able to make it with her family, we were able to get into her place...and the kids LOVED the bunk beds! They thought the top bunk was just SO awesome!

This picture cracks me up, specially Sophie's face LOL! We told the kids if they smile really big, they get some candy!

One of the highlights for Sophie, especially, was getting to eat breakfast with Addy. Look how cute these two are ;)

On the 2nd day, we decided to go sled riding on a nearby mountain. As you can see, the mountain did not have very much snow on it, so close to the ground. But, it was enough to sled. This was Sophie's first time in the cold and snow. She opted to hang low and not go all the way up the mountain to sled down. So I stayed with her while Scott took the boys up.

Hiking up that mountain to get high enough to sled is TIRING! Here is Scott, Connor, Hayden, Damien and Hudson taking a break...and then coming down...

While the boys sled down, Sophie and I played in the snow at the bottom of the hill. She was very cautious...she touched the snow with her foot, then picked it up in her hand. We spent quite awhile discovering this white stuff called SNOW!

Towards the end of our day on this mountain, I was able to get Sophie in the sled and pull her down the mountain slowly. Overall, the kids did GREAT!
